television stations work by computer recordings, and generally print
the notice soon after it is called in. All announcements are called
in prior to 6:00 A.M. if possible.

Most
radio stations give the announcements on the half-hour or
quarter-hour. Consequently, Thomaston may miss one and make the next
one. Television is more immediate.
School
Delays:
There
will only be 90-minute delays. Parents should drop their children
off 90 minutes later if you drive them to school. No supervision is
available until then. There will be no Pre K-1 program; Pre K-2 will
start at 12:45, regular time. School dismissal will be at the normal
dismissal times.
Early
Release: (Advance Notification)
If
school is to be released early due to impending inclement weather, it
will be announced in the morning on the radio and previously noted TV
stations. This will allow parents to plan and be prepared for the
return of their children.
Early
Release: (Once school is in session)
If
students are to be released early due to inclement weather once they
have arrived to school, such notification will be made by the
Superintendent and shared with building administrators by 10:30 a.m.
The early release will be announced on the noted radio and television
stations. Students at the high school will be dismissed at 12:00
noon, TCS at 12:30. For Black Rock School dismissal times, please
refer to the time schedule attached*.
Weather
cancellation announcements are subject to change; please stay tuned
to your local broadcasting system for the most accurate and
up-to-date information. All parents should have an emergency plan in
place for their child(ren) in the event of an early dismissal due to
weather. Please do not call radio stations, police departments,
etc., since it only serves to clog the lines.
