Second Grade Guest Reader Program

Principal Johnson was a guest reader in Mrs. Gritt's classroom last week. He read "The Principal's New Clothes"and the "Principal from the Black Lagoon." He also read a book about election day. The children were very excited to have him as a guest reader.



Grandparent Day Celebration

Kindergarteners performed for their grandparents on Friday, November 20th on the cafeteria stage . They sang several songs celebrating  Grandparents' Day. An enthusiastic audience was very receptive to the young performers.




Kid Power and the Nutrition Mission

On Tuesday morning , February 23, Black Rock students and staff were treated to an in-school assembly about good nutrition. The "Kid Power and the Nutrition Misssion" is a musical show that informs and instructs children on the importance of healthy eating and exercise. This wonderful show was fully funded through a grant from the Thomaston Educational Enrichment Fund.





Second Grade Family Math Night

Black Rock Elementary School hosted the 15th Annual Family Math Night on Wednesday March 24, 2010. This fun, math-filled event ran from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in the school cafeteria, gymnasium, and front foyer. This very successful program is sposored by the second grade team in conjunction with the Thomaston Educational Enrichment Fund. Many students and parents attended this very popular math event. Several prizes were awarded for estimating correctly the number of items in a jar.
